Description

The Naval Air Systems Command, Warfare Analysis Program Office (AIR 4.10) intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price purchase order to Western Scientific, Inc., 5444 Napa Street, San Diego, CA 92110 for the procurement of a cluster computing system. The system is required to expand the current capability and capacity of the AIR 4.10 Special Warfare Analysis Center Laboratory. This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority of 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1. The immediate need for the enhanced computing system to be operational in order to support Naval Aviation Enterprise programs and Office of the Chief of Naval Operations future capability decisions does not allow for the introduction of a computing system developed by other than Western Scientific due to the inherent incompatibility and configurability issues such an introduction would involve. Western Scientific is the supplier of the existing cluster computing system and the Government intends to negotiate solely with Western Scientific for enhancement of the system.
