- Description
- This is a 'Like-Equipment Sole-Source' Procurement. The Integra Selector hand piece being procured is needed for the Selector equipment already owned by the customer. They own previously procured Integra Selector equipment, and need this second hand piece as an operational back up. Patient safety was recently put at risk where the hand piece that the customer owned quit working during a surgical procedure. The equipment technical representative did not have a back up the hospital could use. Because our Hospital also serves as a teaching environment, equipment standardization lead to the sole source justification for the Integra system being used. This is an additional hand piece to be added to capital equipment that is already purchased. The surgeons, staff and SPD are familiar with the equipment and have all been in-serviced on it.
