Description
Large Systems IT Support The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Center for Information Technology, Division of Computer System Services intends to procure on a sole source basis with Mr. Jay Vinton, Washington, D.C., for the continuation of existing purchase order 47-MZ-700858, IT technical support services. Mr. Vinton shall focus on performing various network connectivity to the IBM mainframe systems located at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD which included installing mainframe software products, networking components of the operating system, Communications Server TCPIP as well as various other server components each requiring their own configuration, monitoring and problem resolution. The contractor is responsible for the configuration of the network interface hardware for the mainframes. The contractor is also responsible for interfacing with the Division of Network Systems and Telecommunications which maintains the NIH network which the mainframes are connected, making sure that the mainframes interoperate properly within the NIH network. The contractor is responsible for configuring, implementing and maintaining mainframe security. The incumbent’s previous years of working with the NIH mainframe make him uniquely qualified to continue this service. Re-training and re-certification of a new contractor would not be cost effective to the government. The proposed acquisition will be procured under FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisitions.
