The Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Virginia seeks sources and information for a new family of tactical solar electric power systems. The goal of this program is to identify commercially available, non-developmental solar electric power systems in two size ranges: a two (2) man-portable ( 88 lbs) system and a trailer mounted, High Mobility Multi-Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) towable system that does not exceed 4200 lbs, including the trailer. The systems must be capable of sustained operation in extreme environments (high shock, temperatures ranging from -20F to +131F, etc.) and be easy and safe to operate by incidental operators with minimal training. It is desired that the systems maximize power output while retaining some inherent energy storage capability to provide minimal power during night time operations. Both Direct Current (DC) and Alternating Current (AC) systems are sought. Commercial firms possessing the characteristics noted in any of the above systems are encouraged and invited to submit product brochures and pricing materials outlining specifications, to include a statement of capabilities. Responses will be reviewed to identify firms potentially capable of fulfilling the Governments requirements. This Request for Information (RFI) is for planning purposes only at the current stage. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI, or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement to payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by the Government will arise as a result of submission of responses to this RFI and Government use of such information. The Government recognizes that proprietary data may be part of this effort. If so included, clearly mark such restricted or proprietary data and present it as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. Responses to this RFI shall be mailed to Marine Corps Systems Command, Attn: Moxi Mi-GTES, 2200 Lester Ave, Quantico, VA 22134-6050 no later than 09 Jun, 2008. FEDEX or UPS deliveries should be sent to MARCORSYSCOM Material Management, Attn: Moxi Mi-GTES, 2201A Willis St, Quantico, VA 22134-6050.
