Description
The United States Air Force and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Launch and Range Systems Wing (LRSW), is contemplating issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) to McDonnell Douglas Corporation, a Wholly Owned Subsidiary of The Boeing Company for Launch Services in support of the National Aeronautical Space Administration (NASA) Kepler mission. LRSW program office intends to modify their existing Medium Launch Vehicle Contract to include a NASA funded Launch Support Services requirement. The period of performance will be 01 Oct 2008 through 28 Feb 2009 to support NASA’s Kepler mission. This Launch Service will include requirements for the following: The Contractor shall perform organizational level maintenance (remove and replace) and supply support of the LV in accordance with MIL-STD-1538, the maintenance manuals/procedures, the System Specification, and the IMP. The Contractor shall perform maintenance and supply support of all ground systems not maintained by a separate Government Contractor in accordance with MIL-STD-1538. Following the NASA Kepler mission on the east coast range, the USAF intends to initiate full or partial contract closeout of the medium launch vehicle to address activities necessary to disposition resources. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 336415 (Guided Missile and Space Vehicle Manufacturing). The RFP will be issued 15 days after publication of this Notice of Contract Action (NOCA). Any interested party must at a minimum before being considered a responsible prospective contractor have all the resources to launch the Kepler mission by Feb 2009. This synopsis is not a formal solicitation. The Government does not intend to award any contracts on the basis of this synopsis or to otherwise pay for the information solicited herein.
