Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to set-aside for a small business concern the purchase of an updated patient education video describing the risk and benefits of ACAM2000 vaccine. In the aftermath of the anthrax attacks of 2001, efforts were undertaken to prepare a response for various bioterrorism agents. Because smallpox had been eradicated, the only vaccines available were no longer licensed and would have to be given as part of an Investigational New Drug (IND) protocol. However, if there was a need to conduct mass vaccination clinics in a short time, videos would be required in order to more quickly impart the risks and benefits of the vaccine under the terms of the IND. In 2003, a production company was hired to create these videos. They were distributed to all public health agencies in the United States to be used in the event of a smallpox attack. In 2007, a new smallpox vaccine was licensed. While it will no longer require the amount of information as the IND product, public health agencies still need a way to easily explain the risks and benefits of the vaccine in the event mass vaccination is required. This contract is to hire a production company to create a new version of this patient education video.
