Description
The United States Department of Transportation (DOT), Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) is soliciting sources to support the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration servers with remote accessible Keyboard Video Mouse over Internet Protocol devices. This will be used for remote system administration of the servers. The Volpe Center is seeking evaluation units; the prospective evaluation unit offerings must meet the following project requirements: (1) Must be IP addressable KVM over IP; (2) have at least one local and 4 remote user; (3) Have double power supply for redundancy; (4) Browser based Graphical User Interface for each access via browser; (5) Have security build-in for authentication, at least 128 bit encryption; (6) No mouse synchronization problem; (7) Have dedicated/reliable support and repair, no third party; (8) Have dedicated/reliable support and repair, no third party; (9) No additional license requirements besides y early support renewal; and (10) Gigabit ports. It is also desirable to have: (1) Video compression to allow better response and low network footprint; (2) Remote power management; and (3) Virtual Media. Once the evaluation unit is received at the Volpe Center, the Volpe Center staff will test it for 30 days to ensure evaluation is done correctly. During this timeframe, the Volpe Center will ensure the required functions are working as offered/advertised and in case of similar system capabilities between units, the Volpe Center will compare the performance of any additional standard features provided by the unit. Once the 30 day testing period is concluded, the equipment will be returned to the vendor. An analysis will be performed on the results of all evaluated units for a possible future procurement. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL. This notice is for evaluation units, information and planning purposes only, and is a market research tool to determine the availability and adequacy of potential hardware. Information and the evaluation units received in response to this notice shall be safeguarded adequately from unauthorized disclosure, and all evaluation units will only be used for their intended purpose in accordance with the vendor?s product literature for the unit. Evaluation units shall be sent to Ms. Rossestsky?s attention at the following address: DOT/RITA/Volpe Center, 55 Broadway, Attn: J. Rossestsky, RTV-6D2, Cambridge, MA 02142-1093. Availability of any formal solicitation will be announced separately. This is NOT a Request for Proposal (RFP, Invitation for Bid (IFB), or an announcement of a solicitation, and no solicitation package exists at this time. The Government will not pay for any materials provided in response to this synopsis, but all submittals will be returned to the sender in their original packaging.
