- ROADS CONSTRUCTION PROJECT F.A.I.R. COMBINED BRIDGE NO. 1: The Bureau of Indian Affairs, Western Regional Office, seeks Indian-Owned Construction Firms which can provide all labor, materials, equipment and supervision to complete the following: FAIR 651(1)-Bridge H083: Remove and dispose of existing bridge railing, clean all steel surfaces of rust and loose paint, paint all steel surfaces; construct concrete bridge approaches, place aggregate base course, install new bridge railing and install guardrail (0.044 miles). FAIR 651(2)-Bridge 084: Remove and salvage existing timber deck, construct new timber deck; clean all steel surfaces of rust and loose paint, paint all steel surfaces; construct concrete bridge approaches, place aggregate base course, and install guardrail (0.043 miles). Total length of project is 0.087 miles on BIA Route 651, on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation, Apache County, Arizona. Estimated Price Range is $100,000.00 to $250,000. ISSUE DATE o/a 15 APRIL 2008. BID OPENING DATE o/a: 14 MAY 2008. THIS PROCUREMENT IS SET-ASIDE FOR 51% INDIAN-OWNED AND CONTROLLED FIRMS UNDER THE "BUY INDIAN ACT." 25 U.S.C. 47, Section 7(b) of P.L. 93-638 (25 U.S.C. 450e) requires that preference opportunities in employment and training be given to Indian/Alaska Native individuals and that preference in award of subcontracts be given to Indian/Alaska Native economic enterprises. Indian firms bidding under this Act must self-certify they are eligible under the "Buy Indian Act."
