- Description
- Each year, the USDA Forest Service, Region One, Forest Health Protection (FHP) staff, located at 200 East Broadway, Missoula, Montana, conducts aerial detection surveys on approximately 28 million acres throughout the Region. Aerial surveyors manually record polygon, point and attribute data on 1:100,000-scale paper maps or via Digital Aerial Sketchmappers (DASM), mapping current disease and insect damage. The paper maps are then scanned, geo-referenced, digitized and the data processed into ArcInfo pest coverages, shapefiles or personal geodatabases. Raw DASM data will be in shapefile format and blended with the paper map coverages. Dataset attributes will be expanded based upon the requirements of the Regional and National FHP staffs, and comprehensive reports produced. User maps and digital files for approximately thirty (30) Reporting Areas will be produced for distribution to ADS cooperators. This contract will be awarded as a firm, fixed-price, performance-based, service commercial item. The performance period will be one base year plus one option year. This solicitation will be available on or about April 10, 2008, and can be downloaded from this site at that time.
