- By way of this announcement, the Chicago District Corps of Engineers issues Modification 01 to its Pre-Solicitation Notice for the Burns Harbor-FY 08 Harbor Channel Dredging Project. By way of this modification, interested bidders shall disregard in its entirety the Pre-Solicitation Notice dated March 19, 2008 and use the announcement included in this Modification 01. By way of this announcement, the Chicago District Corps of Engineers issues a Pre-solicitation Notice for FY08 Burns Waterway H arbor Maintenance Dredging. The Contractor will be required to perform Hydraulic Dredging of 150,000 cubic yards (cu. Yd.) of silty material from the West Arm and Outer Harbor of Burns Harbor. The West Arm will be dredged to -27.5' Low Water Datum (LWD) a nd the Outer Harbor will be dredging to -28.5' LWD each with 1' of over depth allowed. Disposal will be open lake 1 mile directly North of the harbor in the bottom 1/3 of the water column. Debris is expected to be encountered and contractor will be requi red to properly dispose of all debris. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 237990 Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction. COMPETITION IS RESTRICTED TO HUBZONE SMALL BUSINESS CONCERNS. The Smal l Business Size Standard is $18.5 Million (Note: To be considered small for purposes of Government Dredging procurement, a firm must perform at least 40 percent of the volume dredged with its own equipment or equipment owned by another small dredging conc ern). The estimated magnitude of the proposed procurement is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. The Invitation For Bid (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) fi les and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Interested Bidders can download the IFB Package from the Internet Site https://www.fedteds.gov/. The solicitation will be available at the above mentioned Internet site on or about 0 4 April 2008. The due date for bids will be on or about 06 May 2008 at 2:00 P.M. Central Standard Time (CST). In order for contractors to be awarded a contract with the Department of Defense, the contractor must be registered in Central Contractor Regist ration (CCR) System. Contractors can access the CCR for free at http://www.ccr.gov. The Government intends to award a FIRM-FIXED PRICE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT.
