This purchase will be made under simplified acquisition procedures and Other than Full and Open Competition as authorized by FAR 6.302-1. This determination has been made based on several required features to meet the needs of the government. This is the first .035? balloon expandable stent with radiopague marker technology which allow for more accurate placement. This system also has a low profile crossing and minimal shortening allowing increased accuracy during placement. The anticipated award date is Mar 21, 2008. This notice is neither a request for competitive proposals nor a solicitation of offers. A determination by the government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
