Description
NAICS Code: 541690 Synopsis for Modeling of Chloroform Metabolism The U.S. EPA intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1, with Dr. Gregory L. Kedderis, PH. D. for the development of a physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model for chloroform (CF) inhalation dosimetry in rats, mice and humans that includes: 1) measures of CF metabolism in liver and kidney, and 2) measured variability of human hepatic blood flow. The Government requires a contractor that possesses the unique capability/capabilities of having developed a PBPK model for chloroform that includes metabolic rate constants and microsomal protein recovery data derived from human organ donors; as well as measures of variability of hepatic blood flow derived from literature reports of studies with human volunteers. This model will be revised to also include measures of CF metabolism in the kidney. This unique capability is essential for contract performance because it is required for development and implementation of a PBPK model to serve as the basis for estimates of metabolism of chloroform in both liver and kidney following an inhalation exposure. These results will be used as the basis for values to be included in a chemical risk assessment of chloroform. This procurement will be accomplished under FAR Part 12 Commercial Procedures. Interested firms may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirements. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTATIONS. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Sources wishing to be considered MUST submit documentation to the office identified above. Documentation must be submitted within 15 calendar days of the date of publication of this notice. Submit your request in writing to Michael Kreacic at the above address or by fax to 513-487-2107 or by e-mail to kreacic.michael@epa.gov. Telephone requests will not be honored.
