Description
NASA/LaRC has a requirement for a Rapid Prototyping Machine to provide the capability to construct models/prototypes of various types of flight articles with the following specifications: - The machine?s build envelope shall measure at least 14? x 10? x 10? with the capability of expansion to 16? x 14? x 16.? -The machine shall contain two material bays: 1 model bay, and 1 support bay. - The machine shall produce models to an accuracy rate of +/- .005? or +/- .0015 in/in whichever is greater. - The machine shall be capable of producing models using thermoplastic material with a minimum strength of 5200 lb/in2. The built parts must reach full strength without additional post-processing. - On-site installation/set-up shall be provided by the contractor. The price shall include 1 full year of on-site service. - Offeror may provide a trade-in credit for unit being replaced with this acquisition. The current unit is a Stratasys Prodigy Plus that makes prototype parts from ABS plastic using fused deposition; has a build volume of 8" x 8" x 10"; and is not operational. Offerors shall show credit for trade-in as a separate item on quote. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation, which is issued as a Request for Quotation (RFQ); quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Offerors are required to use the On-Line RFQ system to submit their quote. The On-line RFQ system is linked above or it may be accessed at http://prod.nais.nasa.gov/cgi-bin/eps/bizops.cgi?gr=C&pin= . The information required by FAR Subpart 12.6 is included in the on-line RFQ. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12 and the Simplified Acquisition Procedures set forth in FAR Part 13. Questions regarding this acquisition must be submitted in writing (e-mail is preferred) no later than 3/21/2008. It is the quoter's responsibility to monitor this site for the release of amendments (if any). Potential quoters will be responsible for downloading their own copy of this notice, the on-line RFQ and amendments (if any). An ombudsman has been appointed - See NASA Specific Note "B".
