Description
COMMERCIAL AREA ANNOUNCEMENT / INNOVATIVE IDEAS SOUGHT FOR THE UPGRADE OF THE FLEET READINESS CENTER (FRC) EAST'S (FORMERLY NAVAIR DEPOT CHERRY POINT, NC) HEWLETT-PACKARD XP-512 STORAGE AREA NETWORK (SAN). FRC East is a Department of Defense (DoD) industrial facility responsible for the repair, overhaul and re-manufacture of DoD aircraft and components. Day to day operations within the facility are heavily dependant upon computer systems which are used for planning and scheduling workload, collecting employee time and attendance records, and a variety of other information management tasks. As currently configured, the SAN provides approximately 32 terabytes of storage. It offers advanced data management capabilities as well as predictive monitoring to detect abnormalities in system components prior to failure to allow the SAN to provide maximum uptime. The system interfaces to FRC East computers via a fiber channel fabric. Although a variety of data is stored on the SAN, its primary purpose is to support a HP-UX high availability cluster as the repository for Oracle database files. The FRC East Information Technology Department is interested in determining whether to pursue a procurement to upgrade the existing SAN or replace it with a new enterprise storage system. The final solution must offer approximately 100 terabytes of storage capacity. It should further offer the typical data management capabilities and diagnostic monitoring facilities commonly associated with modern enterprise data storage systems. The system should include integrated tape backup capability. Finally, it must interface easily with HP-UX (PA-RISC), Solaris (Sparc and X86), Microsoft Windows (X86), and Red Hat Linux (X86) computer systems. FRC East does not wish to limit consideration to fiber channel/SAN solutions, but is open to the consideration of IP and/or Network Attached Storage (NAS) or any other combination of technologies that will meet our enterprise data storage requirements. In addition to the technological solution, system engineering and integration services will be required to integrate the final solution into the FRC East IT infrastructure, including system reconfigurations and migration of data from the existing system. Finally, enterprise level maintenance support will be required for the storage solution to ensure business continuity for FRC East. Companies responding to this request should provide information outlining, in broad terms, innovative and imaginative technological solutions to upgrade or replace the existing SAN. Please include sufficient information to show your firm's technical expertise and capability to provide the equipment/hardware and software, system engineering and integration services, and three years of annual system maintenance. Proprietary information MUST be marked as such, on a page-by-page basis. Please include corporate information, including business size status. Please send responses to Christopher Murphy, Contract Specialist, Code 2.5.1.6, Bldg. 159, NAVAIR Contracts, FRC East, PSC Box 8021, Cherry Point, NC 28533-0021 at (252) 464-7031 or by e-mail: christopher.w.murphy@navy.mil. This Commercial Area Announcement (CAA) is for informational purposes only. Responses in any form are not offers. The issuance of this CAA does not impose any obligation on the DoN or signify a firm commitment to issue a solicitation or a contract. There are no funds available to pay for the cost of preparing the responses to this CAA.
