- Description
- In accordance with FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b) the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to issue a sole-source purchase order to The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union(CFMEU)in Sydney, Australia for $25,000.00. The contractor shall prepare working documents in the areas of refuge chambers, underground communication systems, oxygen supplies, risk assessment for the mining industry and training of mine workers that can be used to lead discussions during the workshops in the United States. The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU)is Australia main trade union, and officials within the mining division have been active in all health and safety aspects of underground coal mining. CFMEU experience and expertise in the areas of risk assessment, disaster prevention programs for underground coal mines, and their assistance in the formulation of NIOSH mining research program are critical. CFMEU has helped developed and implement a number of specific changes for sealing of mined areas, performance measures of ventilation controls and coordination of risk assessment programs and strategies. These experiences are unique and are highly valuable to the mining research program in these areas.
