- Description
- The principal components of the work to be performed involves removal of lead-based paint, cleaning, and recoating of metalwork associated with the Palisades Dam fixed wheel gates for the two outlet tunnels. Palisades Dam is located approximately 55 miles southeast of Idaho Falls, Idaho, in Bonneville County. The metalwork associated with the fixed wheel gates includes the gate stems, gate stem guide rails, gate stem guide rail supports, gate stem carriage assembly, gate stem couplings assembly, stem handling support assembly, fixed wheel gate guide rails, and access ladders/handrails for different concrete levels. The intake structures consist of various walkways and concrete levels. This acquisition will be a full-and-open, negotiated, best-value competition under the Small Business Competitive Demonstration Program and will not be set-aside. The NAICS Code is 238320, Painting and Wall Paper Contractors, and the small business standard is $13.0M. The estimated range of the construction work is $250K - $500K. The solicitation may be available on or about March 20, 2008, and offers would be due on or about May 2, 2008. The beginning of work depends upon the water level of the reservoir. The entire metalwork may not be out of water until summer. However, proposals shall be based upon the instructions given in the solicitation. IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS - SITE VISIT INFORMATION: The entire metalwork is only visible during low water before the reservoir begins to fill in late winter. Therefore, interested contractors should arrange to see the site of work as soon as possible - no formal site visit is planned. Please call 208-483-4015, extension 10, to arrange for a site visit on Mondays through Thursdays, except for holidays, from the hours of 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Mountain time. POC's are Russ Anderson or Mike Kraus, or Larry Hieb at extension 20. Call prior to your arrival for current road access information. The road over the dam could close at anytime due to snow, at which point the only access is by foot or snowmobile. Telephone requests for the solicitation won't be accepted. We reserve the right to issue the solicitation on paper if it becomes necessary. All responsible sources may submit an offer, which we will consider.
