- Description
- Arnold Air Force Base (AEDC), Tennessee, has a requirement for the upgrade of six large Allis Chalmers 6.9kv 2 pole synchronous motors and one spare rotor for the Von Karman Facility. The existing equipment consists of one 12,500 hp, five 16,000 hp motors, and one spare 16,000 hp rotor. The motors shall all be upgraded to 18,500 hp with a 1.25 service factor and each motor shall receive a new nameplate validating the upgrade. This project includes a detailed design for the motor upgrades. Due to the lack of sufficient detailed drawings of the motors, reverse engineering shall be required. The design of all the motors shall be the same allowing interchangeability of any motor or the installation of the spare rotor into any motor. Disassembly of the motors involves asbestos and lead paint abatement. It is intended that this work be performed at the Contractor's repair facility. The Contractor must have the in house capability to perform a dynamic rotor balance at 3600 RPM for motors of this size or greater. The Government intends to award a five-year Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity single award contract. Request for Proposal (RFP) with the complete specification will be available on or about 19 March 2008. The RFP and specification will only be available electronically on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website. Please register as a source to be notified of RFP amendments, etc. It is the responsibility of the vendor (even those registered as a source) to check the FBO website frequently to ensure they have all the available information.
