Description
The Naval Sea Systems Command has a requirement for efforts in support of the inactivation and defeuling of USS ENTERPRISE (CVN 65). The inactivation and defueling of a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier is a complex availability necessitating extensive advance planning. The advance planning includes, but is not limited to, engineering plans, material procurement, and readying facilities for the inactivation. This requirement encompasses all advance planning, design, documentation, engineering, procurement, shipchecks, fabrication, and/or the work necessary to prepare and make ready for and accomplish the inactivation and defueling work on CVN 65. The requirements for planning and accomplishment will be solicited from Northrop Grumman Newport News, 4101 Washington Ave, Newport News, VA 23607. These requirements will be procured, without full and open competition, from the only qualified source capable of performing the inactivation and defueling on a large deck nucle ar aircraft carrier. The CVN 65 inactivation accomplishment will include requirements for defueling the reactors, as well as nuclear and non-nuclear inactivation work and preparation for towing. Firms interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact Northrop Grumman Newport News directly. This synopsis is being posted to both the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) page located at http: www.eps.gov and the Navy Electronic Commerce Online (NECO) site located at http: www.neco.navy.mil. While it is understood that FBO is the single point of entry for the posting of synopsis and solicitations to the Internet, NECO is the alternative in case FBO is unavailable. Please feel free to use either site to access information posted by the Naval Sea Systems Command. Please see note 22.
