Description
Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC)-Iowa City, is soliciting and intends to award a firm fixed price contract to provide all professional, technical and investigative services including all labor, tools, equipment required to prepare working drawings and specifications and provide construction period services for project 636-902, "Construct 3rd Research Building" at the VAMC in Iowa City, IA. NAICS Code 541310, the applicable Small Business Size Standard of $4.5 million, applies. The scope of work for this project shall include but not be limited to the design services for the construction of the 3rd Research Building at the Iowa City VAMC to include the effective removal of all wet lab and animal research facilities from the main patient care building. The project will also renovate much of the vacated space currently occupied by research on the 10th floor of Building 1 to allow backfill by administrative and patient support functions. New building square footage is initially estimated at 20,000 gsf with renovated space in Building 1 of approximately 10,000 gsf. These are estimates only and may be adjusted to provide more new construction and less renovation as program criteria are finalized. A/E contract will include design (with reviews), reproduction of bid documents, construction period services, final inspections and as-built drawings. The services of a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and a Registered Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) are required for this project. Estimated construction cost range is $5,000,000 to $10,000,000. Area of consideration: Firms must be located within 150 mile radius of the VA Medical Center, Iowa City, IA.
