- Description
- This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) Branch, on behalf of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) intends to solicit, negotiate and award a purchase order on sole source bases with Carlo Colantuoni, Ph.D., Baltimore, Maryland, to perform data analysis on a gene expression project. Using brain samples from several brain collections in the Clinical Brain Disorders Branch, NIMH, Dr. Colantuoni will analyze the expression of 10,000?s of transcripts in the brain. This includes normal subjects and also subjects with the diagnosis of schizophrenia. Dr. Colantuoni will be required to maintain a rigourous control and normalization to ensure data validity of the vast number of data points. It is anticipated that 1,200 hours will be needed over 7 months. Dr. Colantuoni has the necessary training and skills for the quality control of the data for normal and other subjects. He is highly qualified to process microarrays for brain tissue data. He has taught and published many articles on data analysis and demographics. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition (FAR 13) and is exempt from the requirement of FAR Part 6. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government.
