Description

This procurement is unrestricted. The North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) for this procurement is 236220 and the size standard under this code is $28,500,000. The Smithsonian Institution is seeking proposals to furnish all supervision, labor materials and equipment needed to provide construction services for the complete revitalization of the Smithsonian Institution's (SI) Pod 3 storage facility, located at SI's Museum Storage Center (MSC) in Suitland, MD. The work will encompass sitework, including earthwork, underground utilities, excavation, drainage, foundation system, poured-in-place concrete structure; structural steel framing, deck, and imbeds; roofing systems, waterproofing, insulation, air/vapor barriers; specialty doors, hardware, modifications to the existing hydraulic elevators; mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, fire protection (detection and suppression) systems; security system; antenna system; telecommunications foundation system, and other items and systems as indicated on the Construction Documents. For the referenced work, the Smithsonian Institution intends to award a single firm-fixed price construction contract to a single General Contractor. All responsible business concerns are encouraged to submit a proposal for consideration by the Smithsonian Institution in response to upcoming Smithsonian Institution Solicitation F08SOL00013 regardless of size. Copies of the Specifications for the resultant Solicitation F08SOL00013 can be obtained at the Federal Business Opportunity website, http://www.eps.gov/, after the issuance of the request on or about February 29, 2008 with respondent bids ultimately required on or about April 1, 2008. The estimated cost of the proposed services is more than $10,000,000 and the Period of Performance for the Base Bid is 548 calendar days from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed.
