Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Boston Healthcare System-INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE. The VA Boston Healthcare System intends to negotiate and procure on a sole source basis. It is neither a solicitation announcement nor a request for proposals or quotes and does not obligate the Government to award a contract. Requests for a solicitation will not receive a response. This is a notice of intent to award a sole source contract to Yankee Equipment which holds the patent to the Chicago Edge MAXX cornerless spreader/feeder with dual inputs designed for high speed, 120??? usable width. The requirements for this spreader/feeder are: 1. A cornerless feeding system that an employee does not need to take the time to find corners of flatwork in order to feed the item. 2. Eliminate the potential pulling of sheets-end to end, (clip on system) it virtually eliminates the premature tearing of sheets, therefore conceptually sheets last longer before being disposed of (fair-wear and tear reduced) 3. Achieve production requirements of up to 1,800 pieces per hour the number of employees required to accommodate this feeding requirement is eliminated from 4-5 FTEE-feeding and pulling to 2-3 FTEE (feeding and pulling) 4. Does not drag across the floor prior to entering the machine (ironer). The clip on systems do allow sheets to drag on the floor and this has been cited by several JCAHO inspectors in the past as a sanitation challenge and by OSHA as a tripping hazard to employees feeding the iron. This acquisition will be accomplished using commercial services procedures in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 12, and the justification for other than full and open competition is in accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, only one responsible source and other supplies or services will satisfy the agency requirements. Requests for a solicitation will not receive a response. Any firm that believes it can meet these requirements may give written notification. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail, to demonstrate the ability to comply with the above requirements. All information submitted in response to this announcement must be received by March 5th, 3pm EST. This information can be faxed or emailed to Kimberly Perkins. My e-mail address is Kimberly.Perkins3@med.va.gov and my fax number is 1-774-826-1229. Responses will be evaluated however; a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Please no phone calls will be accepted.
