- Description
- The Department of Commerce, NOAA, National Weather Service (NWS), Telecommunication Operations Center intends to negotiate on sole source basis, under authority of Federal Acquisition Requlation (FAR) Subpart 6.302 Other Than Full and Open Completion, with the Gcom, Inc., 1800 Woodfield Drive, Savoy, IL 61874, to provide annual Software maintenance support on Gcom protocol Appliance and Suite Kit products. The National Weather Service Telecommunication Gateway is a critical link in the national and global infrastructure that collects and distributes weather data. The NWSTG, operating a real-time environment, ensures NWS meets its mission to provide weather and flood waranings; public forecasts; and, advisories for the entire United States, its territories, adjacent waters and ocean areas. An outage of the NWSTG, for even a few hours, could result in loss of life or property and adversely affect the national security and economy. Certain critical telecommunications running X25 and Asynchronous protocols are interfaced with the NWSTG message switching system through Front-End-Processors comprised of servers with specialized interface hardware and specialized licensed software applications using proprietary source code. Gcom software support renewal coverage for period between March 1, 2008 to February 29, 2009, with Two Option Years. Order No. SU-0074, Product Gcom Protocol Appliance, 4 port, rack mountable, 5 each Order No. SU-0074, Product Gcom Protocol Applicance, 4 port, rack mountable, 1 each order No. L224A3, Product - Gcom Protocol Appliance, 4 port, rack mountable, 1 each Order No. SU-0003, Product - Gcom Protocol Appliance, 4 port, rack mountable, 1 each Order No. SU-0003, Product - Gcom Protocol Suite Kit, 4 pt Universal, 12 each An active software support agreement is required to ensure timely support for software problems and to ensure installation of version updates and maintenance/security patches and U0047. This is not a request for competitive proposals. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. No telephone requests will be honored.
