- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis with Energysolutions under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253 (c)(1) only one responsible source. It is believed that only this entity can satisfy the agency requirement for disposal of radioactive waste (class C waste.) The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulates licensing requirements for land disposal of radioactive material per 10CFR61.55. This particular package is a Class C cask shipment.
