- Description
- The purpose of this contract is to secure services for precommercial thinning of approximately 259 acres of conifer reproduction, approximately 27 years old. The project area is located in the Tongass National Forest, Yakutat Ranger District. The project area is situated in the Yakutat forelands at the northern end of the Alaska panhandle. The work site is approximately 8 road miles southeast of Yakutat, Alaska, which is a full-service community that is accessible via Alaska Airlines, the Alaska Marine Highway System, and barge services. Yakutat is an isolated town approximately 200 air miles northwest of Juneau, Alaska that is not connected by road to any other towns in Alaska, Canada, or the contiguous 48 states. There is direct road access to the work site from Yakutat. The performance period is 184 calendar days.
