- Digital Imaging Data The US Army Space and Missile Defense Command/US Army Strategic Command (USASMDC/ARSTRAT), Technical Center (SMDC-TC) has an ongoing effort with Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC) to use missile defense image processi ng algorithms to detect and discriminate breast cancer. There is a requirement for mammogram data on normal patients and patients with breast cancer; in particular, data collected with the new digital mammogram machines. The American College of Radiology Imaging Network (ACRIN) has collected a data base on approximately 55,000 patients. The ACRIN data base is the only one available on digital mammogram machines that satisfy agency requirements. Under the authority of 10 U.S. Code 2304 (c)(1), as impleme nted by Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1, the Government intends to award this effort to ACRIN. This is the only known source of this information. Every step has been and will be taken to ensure competition is obtained for future requirements. Thi s notice of intent is not a request for proposal from any source other than American College of Radiology Imaging Network; however, all proposals received will be considered by the Government.
