- Description
- RFP fpr Engineering Study per Technical Specification for a "turnkey" Hexapod or Position Adjustment System to position a 6,500 pound CCD Camera for the 4.5 m Blanco telescope in La Serena, Chile, for the Dark Energy Survey (DES) Project. Firm must have capability and experience to design, build & test Hexapods for Astronomical applications. The axial travel range, along the Z-axis, is +/-30 mm with a peak-to-peak error of +/-7.5 microns in any 3 mm segment in the 60 mm range. The lateral travel range is +/-15 mm along the X-axis & also along the Y-axis with a peak-to-peak error of +/-25 microns in any 1.6 mm segment in both of the 30 mm ranges. The tip-tilt travel range is +/-100 arcseconds about the X-axis & also about the Y-axis with a peak-to-peak error of +/-3 arcseconds in any 80 arcsecond interval in both of the 200 arcsecond tip-tilt ranges.
