Description
This is a modification to the synopsis entitled Perlite Removal From Liquid Hydrogen Tank V-133-LH, SOLICITATION NO.NNS08228430Q which was posted on January 4, 2008. The purpose of this modification is to provide responses to the Vendor questions: The questions and responses are as follows: Question 1. Lock-out/tag - out procedures ? hot work, etc. Answer: All required safety lock-out/tag-out operations, flame permits and atmosphere sniff checks will be performed by NASA?s NTOG or FOS Contractor safety personnel. Question 2. Verify hours of operations. Answer: Normal operating hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Question 3. Any preferred waste management practices or vendors for disposal of the perlite? Answer: Disposal of all perlite and other waste material is the responsibility of the vendor. Transportation and off-site disposal is the responsibility of the vendor. Question 4. Any required training from say Safety Council, etc Answer: Viewing of a 30 minute safety video is required of all personnel working in the E test complex Question 5. Should tank need to be accessed by cutting, etc, what are the recert criteria, who is responsible, etc and subcontract requirements? Answer: NASA/SSC FOS Contractor will provide any cutting, welding, and subsequent inspection on the tank that may be necessary for the perlite removal. Question 6. Are side window cuts allowed into tank to vacuum perlite? Answer: Yes, see (5) above Question 7. If window cuts are allowed, what welding specifications and criteria are needed for closure? Answer: Welding must meet the requirements of ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, Sections VIII and IX. The due date for responses is not extended. Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
