Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Roberts Oxygen Company, Inc. in Rockville, MD for the rental of Roberts Oxygen Company, Inc. provided compressed gas cylinders for the period of one year from the date of award with two one year options to renew. Sole source determination is based on gases being purchased, under a separate purchase order, from Roberts Oxygen Company, Inc. Gases are delivered in Roberts Oxygen Company, Inc. owned cylinders and NIST is required to pay rental charges on these cylinders until the cylinders are returned. As Roberts Oxygen Company, Inc. owns all cylinders, Roberts Oxygen Company, Inc. is the sole source for this requirement. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 325120, and the size standard is 1000 employees. No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by February 26, 2008. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any questions or concerns regarding this notice of intent should be forwarded in writing to the Contracting Officer (Andrew Perry) via e-mail at andrew.perry@nist.gov before the response date referenced in this notice.
