- Description
- The Corps of Engineers has a need for Fabrication and Installation of New Maintenance Bulkhead Lifting Frame at Montgomery Locks and Dam, Ohio River, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. The work is located at the Montgomery Locks and Dam, Ohio River, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. The dam is located approximately 31.4 miles downstream of the point in Pittsburgh. The site may be accessed via public roads and the inland waterway system. Work involves the fabrication and installation of a new lifting frame (bea m) for the maintenance bulkheads used for servicing the dam. The new frame is an open lattice type structure composed of light to medium (WT, channel, and angle) steel shapes. The dimensions of the beam are approximately 104 feet long by 10 feet wide by 3 feet 6 inches high. Fabrication is of welded and bolted construction. The work will include preparation of the newly fabricated frame and application of shop and field coatings. Field modifications of enlarging pin openings on existing bulkheads and weldi ng new angles to existing hoist sheave blocks will be required prior to delivery and installation of the new lifting frame. The work will also involve the removal and disposal of the old lifting beam. All work will require close coordination with normal da ily dam gate operations. Work must also be completed in close coordination with lock operations and the Lockmaster. The period of performance will be 210 calendar days. Magnitude of the project is between $250,000 and $500,000. Pursuant to the Small Busi ness Competitiveness Demonstration Program established by Public Law 100-656, Business Opportunity Development Reform Act of 1988, this procurement will be unrestricted and any resulting award will be made pursuant to the above program. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) will be issued approximately on-line February 7, 2008 only through FedTeDS; therefore, requests for hardcopies of the specifications and drawings will not be honored. Requests must be made by registering for this solicitation through FedTeDS at http://www.fedteds.gov.
