- TACOM LCMC, Warren, MI intends to enter into contract W56HZV-08-D-0082 with Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, IL for Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) for government-owned Caterpillar construction equipment to include the Wheel Loader, Scraper, Road Grad er, T-9 and T-5 Bulldozers, Vibratory Roller, Dual Steel Wheel Roller, High Speed Compactor, and the Rough Terrain Container Handler (RTCH). These vehicles are commercial with military modifications. The estimated quantity of vehicles to be SLEPped is 1, 494. The total estimated value is $172 million. The contract will be a five year requirements type contract with five one-year options. A SLEP program returns the vehicle to like-new condition (0 hours/0 miles), so that it will be operable for an additi onal 10 to 15 years. Negotiations will be conducted on a sole source basis (using alpha contracting procedures) with Caterpillar, Inc., Peoria, IL. No solicitation will be issued.
