- Description
- The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Acquisitions Management and Operations Branch (AMOB) has a sole source modification for security guard services at Rocky Mountain Laboratories (RML) in Hamilton, MT. Contract N02-AO-40060 (HHSN2722004000060C) with Side Bar and Associates Inc. will be modified to add 14 to 15 additional security guard positions beginning April 2008. This increase will continue through the current option year ending June 30, 2008 at which time the NIH Police force is expected to relieve the contractor staff added by this contract modification. Positions may be armed and unarmed. Side Bar and Associates is the only available source for this requirement. Side Bar currently provides all security guard services for the RML campus. Security requirements on the campus require all security staff to be inter-changeable and to work in a cohesive environment. The combination of two different companies could pose a security risk if the companys policies and procedures differ. In addition, the combination of two different security guard companies would require additional supervision, as Side Bars supervisors would not be able to supervise another contractors employees and vice versa. Additional supervisors would result in duplication of costs. For these reasons, it is in the Governments best interest to obtain all security services for the RML campus from one security company.
