- Battelle Memorial Institute, Pacific Northwest Division (Battelle) manages, operates and maintains the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) for the U.S. Department of Energy?s Office of Science (DOE) in Richland, Washington, under Contract DE-AC05-76RL01830. The PNNL is a multi-program laboratory providing world-class scientific research capabilities and advance scientific knowledge to support DOE?s and the nation?s strategic goals in science, national security, energy and the environment. To meet the laboratory needs and mission objectives, PNNL is providing life extension upgrades to the 318, 331 and 350 Buildings located on federal property in the 300 Area of the Hanford Site, which is located north of the Battelle campus in Richland, Washington.
