Description
THIS ANNOUNCEMENT CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION AND A SEPARATE SOLICITATION WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial services prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6 under Simplified Acquisition procedures in Subpart 13.5 as supplemental with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The solicitation number for this acquisition is RFQ100790 and is being issued as a Request for Quote. The incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 05-23. This acquisition will be processed under Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The associated North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 423450. BACKGROUND The National Institutes of Health, CRC, currently has a medication management system. This system has been in place since FY97. A medication management system is used to manage controlled substances and floor stock on the nursing units and in the pharmacy department. The system provides secure storage throughout the hospital and clinics and communicates with a central console located in the pharmacy. This med management system increases efficiency by eliminating narcotic key searches, end of shift counts and stock outs. The system frees up nursing time for more direct patient care and greatly enhances controlled substance accountability and control through ongoing monitoring of drug usage patterns, providing fewer opportunities for medication error, and allowing access only to medications for which orders are written. All users of our med management system must be given system training and issued a password. Over the years, we have upgraded our current system and plan to upgrade in the future. These upgrades further increase the efficiency of the system and provide greater patient safety features. Many of these upgrades will be tied to upgrades in our current hospital CRIS.
