- Description
- The Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division intends to solicit competitive bids for the fabrication of a two (2) mile long fiber optic tether/cable. Contractor will be required to supply the tether/cable with attached underwater connector and the mating underwater bulkhead connector. Cable and connectors will provide four (4) singlemode optical fiber connections from the underwater system to the shore. A depth rated dummy plug that mates with the underwater bulkhead connector (to seal the connector when cable is not attached), a One-hundred (100) foot deck test cable with a connector (not depth rated) that mates to the underwater bulkhead connector on one end and same ST fiber connectors on the other end, and a reel for transport and storage of the cable assembly shall also be provided. Delivery of the underwater bulkhead connector is required by 01 March 2008. Delivery of the fiber optic tether/cable and reel is required by 16 June 2008. These items wi ll be delivered to the Naval Support Activity - Panama City, Receiving Officer, Building 100, 101 Vernon Avenue, Panama City, FL 32407-7018. A request for proposal will be issued on or about February 13, 2008. NSWC-PC plans to release the solicitation electronically only.
