Description
Notice of availability of a prospectus on February 1, 2008, for solicitation of proposals for a 10-year concession contract to provide ferry service for visitors between Sayville, New York and Sailors Haven, Fire Island National Seashore, New York. Charter and scheduled ferry service to Barrett Beach, Fire Island National Seashore and on-board sale of convenience items and snacks are authorized but not required services. The transportation service operates from mid May to mid October. The Concessioner must arrange for a point of embarkation from Sayville. All personnel, equipment and supplies needed to operate shall be provided by the concessioner. Gross revenue for the 2006 season was $214,212. The minimum franchise fee to be paid to the National Park Service is two percent (2%) of the concessioner's annual gross revenue. The prospectus will explain the business opportunity and the terms and conditions under which the NPS will award the concession contract. The Director, National Park Service, pursuant to 36 CFR Part 51 has determined that the existing concessioner is a preferred offeror for this contract. A pre-proposal site visit is scheduled for February 21, 2008 (see Prospectus Business Opportunity). Any proposal, including that of the existing concessioner, must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. on March 31, 2008. The prospectus is available on the National Park Service Concessions website at http://www.concessions.nps.gov/Prospectus.cfm. If you are planning to submit a proposal and have obtained your prospectus from the website, it is recommended that you notify Katharine_Spirtes@nps.gov of your interest so your contact information can be placed on a mailing list to receive future responses to questions or amendments to the prospectus. Those who have been placed on the mailing list will be provided with any additional information specific to the prospectus in writing. The same information will also be posted to the above-mentioned website. A hard-copy prospectus is also available upon written request for a cost recovery charge of $20.00 per copy. To request a copy, provide a check or money order made payable to the National Park Service (no cash accepted). A Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Social Security Number (SSN) is required on all checks and money orders. Please include a street address (not post office box) and telephone number.
