Description
The Marine Corps acquired a Deployable Instrumented Training Systems (DITS) appended instrumentation system with man-worn and vehicle instrumentation kits to track dismounted marines and vehicles traversing open terrain by augmenting USMC personal and vehicular Multiple Integrated Laser Engagement System (MILES) tactical engagement simulation systems with a GPS and RF based tracking system. The Saab Instrumentation is a unique system developed specifically for military training and was evaluated as part of the OSD Foreign Comparative Test (FCT) program from 2004 to 2007 after an extensive market survey. The system was successfully tested under the congressionally funded program and met the operational requirements documented for range instrumentation training. Following system evaluation, the (58) MILES Interface Kits-Personnel (MIK-P), (12) MILES Interface Kits-Vehicle (MIK-V), (1) claymore mine simulator, and (1) DITS Portable Base Station trailer were provided to th e Marine Corps Basic School (TBS - Marine Corps Officers? basic training and the Infantry Officer?s Course(IOC) which both train Marine second lieutenants in preparation for deployment) for field training support and enhanced After Action Review (AAR) capability. Under the original contract, enough equipment to outfit one maneuver company, plus Opposing Forces (OPFOR), was to be procured in support of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and Camp Pendleton, California. The equipment at MCB Quantico will outfit one TBS maneuver platoon. Since contract award, it has been determined by TECOM that MCB Quantico requires enough equipment to outfit one TBS maneuver company, OPFOR, and the IOC. An increase in value to contract M67854-07-D-8049 is anticipated to procure additional equipment. Contractors with the capability to meet specified requirements should provide a response indicating their ability to do so. The anticipated delivery date for this effort is 30 Sep 08. This request in no way implies either implicitly or explicitly that respondents will be compensated in any way by the US Government for information or materials provided. Any information provided to the Government in response to this notice will become USMC property and will not be returned. All proprietary or classified information will be treated appropriately. All interested contractors shall submit a written response to Cecilia Hansborough within 30 days after publication of this notice.
