- Description
- The Virginia Contracting Activity, on behalf of the Defense Intelligence Agency/ Missile and Space Intelligence Center (DIA/MSIC), Building 4545, Fowler Road, Redstone Arsenal, AL 35898-5500 intends to enter into a contract with Auburn University, 211 Aerospace Engineering Building, Auburn University 36849. Auburn University has on staff the expertise necessary for this task that does not exist with any other contractor. The objective of this research and development effort is to research the scalability of flowfield visualization techniques. The effort will involve applying the Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) technique to a small missile-like body to demonstrate 2-dimensional and 3-dimentional boundary layer characteristics. The contractor shall research the feasibility of using a pulse burst laser system and a small acousto-optic deflector (AOD) for flowfield visualization in a small supersonic wind tunnel. The contractor shall demonstrate the boundary layer characteristics around a simple 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional model to be determined by the Government Contracting Officer Representative and shall document this research in a final technical report. All documentation shall be assembled in Microsoft Word or (Acrobat (Portable Document Format) and HTML (HyperText Markup Language)) with graphics, data and text placed together. The final report shall be in both hardcopy and CD-ROM. A monthly cost and progress report shall also be provided. The contractor shall be required to make two one-person trips to Huntsville, AL during the performance of this 12-month task. No solicitations will be issued other than this notice.
