Description
Therapeutic Clowning Services Hudson Valley Veterans Affairs Medical Center (Montrose Campus) Statement of Work 1. Introduction and Scope of Work The Montrose VAMC is seeking the therapeutic clowning services of two (2) performers, 5 hours per week to visit Long Term Care (LTC) units to interact and have 1:1 interventions. This service is a 6 month trial to evaluate effectiveness and increased services. Scope of work will require cooperation from both sides to conduct satisfaction reviews of work so that optimum levels of Outcomes can be reached. Outcomes have been described as improving: Engagement, Motivation, Expression and Validation with the population while decreasing Apathy, Anger and/or Anxiety. The vendor should consider their ability and scale of how they will be able to accommodate long term goals such as: Staff Engagement and Moral, Fostering a Sense of Liberation and Encouraging a Sense of Play. Below is a general description of requirements. All final contracts will contain more specific information related to contact personnel and scheduling processes. 2. Requirements Engaging in play with therapeutic value; service will be performed on LTC units and will require knowledge of population served as well as terms of illness and contact precautions. All Government Regulations and Standard Nursing home Regulations must be upheld. a. Facility data All staff, equipment, and supplies necessary for the performance of the contracted procedures will be provided by the Contractor. b. Place of performance All contracted procedures shall be performed in Long Term Care Unit of the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center Montrose Campus. c. Patient Safety When interacting with patients, the Contractor will adhere to all VA patient safety requirements 3. Place of performance Pilot Program will be initiated at the Montrose Campus of the VA Hudson Valley and will include all LTC units (Community Living Centers) on station. 4. Evaluation criteria Evaluation of services will be completed in relation to the following rank order listing: 1. Contractor past performance, 2. Contractor's reputation in such area of performance, 3. Contractor's experience with the population to be served 4. Contractor's overall comprehension of the mission and vision of the pilot program. Off station education provided to performers on various techniques should also be offered to performers to keep current with how best to interact with population specific goals.
