- Description
- The Marine Corps is considering procuring an overhead (OH) concealment system for their Family of Light Armored Vehicles (FOLAV) which consists of five variants: LAV 25 (Turreted), LAV L (Logistics), LAV M (Mortar), LAV R (Recovery), and the LAV C2 (Command and Control). It is estimated that a total of 944 overhead kits will be required to equip these variants and the majority of kits will be configured for the LAV 25 A common configuration of the overhead concealment kit is desired. However, it m ay vary slightly between variants. If the Marine Corps decides to proceed with this program, it is anticipated that production kits would be developed, built and tested in Fiscal Year 2008, and that contract(s) for production of the estimated 944 kits w ould be awarded in the same time frame. Each kit shall provide at least the following common characteristics for performance, equipment and capabilities: OH system shall provide concealment to the Vehicle Commander (VC) and Gunner from sniper fire/ targeting OH system shall provide protection to VC and Gunner from adverse weather exposure (sun, rain, wind, etc.) (KPP) OH system shall protect VC and Gunner from thrown objects, mainly sides and rear (KPP)Gunner shall have 360? situational awaren ess and ability to fire weapon in all angles/directions (KPP) VC shall be able to maintain 360? situational awareness when the OH system is in full use OH system shall allow for unrestricted airflow OH system shall have no adverse affect on platfo rm systems/subsystems operation and performance (KPP) OH system shall not affect thermal signature of platform (KPP) OH system shall provide the ability for crew member to ingress/egress without restriction (KPP) OH system shall be kit-able for fi eld installation (user will be able to install, repair, and replace in the field) OH system design shall have minimal impact on platform configuration Note: An LAV user group desired the OH system to be used when stationary only however, use of the O H system while on-the-move will be considered. Note: While the kit must provide these capabilities to both the gunner and VC, it can be developed as one for each. Interested contractors should submit a technical description of their overhead concealm ent system which best satisfies the potential draft requirements. Rough pricing and production lead-time information is also desired.
