- Design/Build Project - MRI Site Prep at three (3) locations. INDUSTRY EXCHANGE CONFERENCE. The VA has scheduled a Pre-Proposal Conference for Thursday, January 31, 2008. During the conference, prospective contractors will have the opportunity to make inquiries of VA staff concerning specs, project requirements, MRI design needs, VA design guide and proposed schedule In addition, following the exchange, a site visit of the Minneapolis location will be available. The VA feels that the conference is essential for potential contractor(s) to understand the project and VA requirements. While the conference is not mandatory, prospective contractors are encouraged to attend and that FAR Clause 52.236-3, Site Investigation and Conditions Affecting the Work apply. The Conference is open to all contractors. VISN 23 is acquiring three new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines. One each is to be installed at the VAMC Minneapolis, MN, the VAMC Sioux Falls, SD, and VAMC Des Moines, IA. The MRI equipment at Minneapolis is intended to be placed in renovated space. The MRI equipment at both Sioux Falls and Des Moines will be placed in new additions, with renovations to accommodate tie-in to the existing buildings. The MRI units being purchased are Phillips 3.0 Tesla Achieva and it is the VA's intent to incorporate the patented Phillips "ambient experience". The delivery date for the equipment is still pending. The machines will be acquired by the VA National Acquisition Center (NAC), Hines, IL and the only relationship to this Notice will be the requirement to obtain the manufacture's specifications for proper site preparation. Potential NAICS Codes are 541310 and/or 236220. THIS IS NOT A FORMAL SOLICITATION, NOR A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS AND THERE IS NO INTENT TO AWARD A CONTRACT BASED ON THE INFORMATION OBTAINED FROM THIS SPECIAL NOTICE ANNOUNCEMENT. It is in the intent of the government to issue a Design/Build Request for Proposal (RFP) as a result of this Pre-Proposal conference. Solicitation documents will be available in approximately 45 days. Detailed submittals will be required at a point in the future after the solicitation documents are announced. Any questions regarding this announcement and response to this announcement must reference VA-263-08-RP-0123. The Government will not undertake extraordinary measures to identify responses without this reference. Notices received that do not reference this number may not receive attention and the offeror may not be sent future documents. Please note that this notice is not a formal solicitation and participation in the event is not a pre-requisite for consideration in future solicitations. The Government will incur no formal obligation or cost associated with the provision of information sought in this Special Notice. The Pre-Proposal conference will be located at the VA Medical Center, Bldg 70 (main building), One Veterans Drive, Minneapolis, MN 55417 in room 4T-112/113 at 9:30am-11:00am CST. Those interested in attending the Industry Exchange Conference must email a request to Julie Stout (julie.stout@va.gov) and Mike Owen (michael.owen6@va.gov) no later than January 28, 2008. The request must include a company name, address, phone number, fax number, email address, business status (small or large business) , company role (prime or subcontractor), list of attendees, and proposed topics for discussion.
