- Description
- The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to enter into sole source negotiations with FN Herstal, S.A. for a firm-fixed price contract modification under contract number N00019-06-C-0092 for the procurement of: (a) modification of two (2) sets of government furnished Medium Window Pintle (MWP) hardware for the CH-46E aircraft to place the ammunition box on the window cross bar while ensuring commonality with the CH-53D/E design; (b) modification of other subcomponents as required to meet flex chute routing and window interference issues noted during aircraft fit checks; (c) modification of the finite element analysis (FEA) to accommodate the changes and conduct the requisite environmental qualification tests to ensure that the modified design meets prescribed flight clearance and production requirements; (d) other engineering, logistics, and technical support services for the successful production modification of the GAU-21 supporting hardware. Unless otherwise stated herein, no formal request for proposal or additional written information is currently available. Request for same will be disregarded. A determination by the Government not to compete is solely within the discretion of the Government. This synopsis is published for information purposes only (THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS). FN Herstal is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the GAU-21 machine gun, and as such, is the only known source available with the requisite technical knowledge, experience and tooling to produce the requirements described herein to satisfy the government?s requirement. The North American Industry Classification Systems (NAICS) code for the supplies anticipated needed herein is 332995.
