- The US Army Corps of Engineers, New York District is scheduled to hold an industry briefing meeting on 17 December 2007 at 10 AM on an upcoming project. The meeting will be held at 26 Federal Plaza, Room 2120. The purpose of the briefing is to partner with the industry in development of the plans and specs for a beach renourishment project in Long Branch, NJ, in order to increase the quality of the project and reduce the risk to the contractor and the government . At the request of the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, the Long Branch, NJ beach renourishment project has an additional feature, a somewhat triangularly shaped feeder beach (in plan layout), which will require the placement of renourishment mat erial farther offshore than typically constructed as part of the construction template. This new feature of the renourishment material has not previously been constructed by the New York District, and the Government strives to answer questions regarding bi ddability and constructability of this feature. The Bid schedule will include options strictly for the shaped feeder beach feature, in addition to options needed for the overall quantity of the renourishment project. Comments from representative contractors in the industry will be used to refine the plans and specs and improve biddability and constructability of the project. The briefing will be presented with, not inclusive, the following topics: construction of unique feeder beach feature, discussion of compensated slope, options and bid schedule.
