Description
THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT ANNOUNCEMENT ONLY. This document is for information and planning purposes only and will allow industry the opportunity to verify the reasonableness and feasibility of the requirement and to submit a capability statement. It does not constitute a Request for Proposal and it is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government to enter into a contract. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the review. It is not known at this time if a solicitation will result from this request for information. If a solicitation is issued, it will be posted on the NIEHS Office of Acquisitions and Federal Business Opportunities website. Interested parties should submit three (3) copies of their capability statement for receipt by the agency within twenty (20) days from the date of this notice. The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) is conducting a market survey to determine the existence of potential sources with the capability to produce test materials for use in investigating the potential for molds found in damp or water damaged buildings to cause systemic toxicity. The test materials (molds) should be produced and harvested under conditions resembling real-life exposures. Interested parties should have the capability to produce the following: -Mixed culture of molds from a water damaged building from New Orleans, LA; -Mixed culture of molds from a damp building with reported health effects (sick-building syndrome); -Stachybotrys chartarum isolate 1 (macrocyclic tricothecene chemotype); -Stachybotrys chartarum isolate 2 (atranone chemotype); -Aspergillus versicolor; -Alternaria alternat The test materials will be used by NTP to conduct subchronic studies in rodents using inhalation as the route of exposure. The Government anticipates a cost reimbursement level of effort (term form) type of award. The anticipated effective date of the award is September 30, 2008. Interested parties (e.g., 8(a), service-disabled veteran owned small business, HUBZone small business, small disadvantaged business, veteran-owned small business, and women-owned small business) having the capabilities necessary to perform the stated requirements may submit capability statements. In addition, due to the unknown market of these services, non-profit, educational institutes and other than small business types may respond as well.
