Description
The U.S. Army, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ is seeking sources to perform an EAPS Turret Transportability Study. The turret, feed system and platform integration concepts shall be developed in sufficient detail to confirm transportability on a C-130 aircraft. Both towed and self propelled concepts shall be considered. Modification of an existing platform is preferred over new platform development. The turret shall be an unmanned, autonomous system, capable of a continuous 3600 rotation in azimuth and -100 to 850 in elevation. The weapon system is two 50mm EAPS cannons. Each gun weighs 750+/-50 lbs with a power requirement of 5HP, and is 164??? in length. The system shall fire 5-10 rounds per engagement (total for both guns) at a combined rate of 400spm. The ammunition has a 55mm diameter (cartridge base) x 538mm long and weighs 6.4 lbs. The feed system shall store 100 rounds per gun (200 rounds total) with a reload time of 10 minutes or less. The fire control system consists of an ATS radar, with 1 transmitting and 3 receiving antennae, that shall be mounted to the turret. The contract deliverable shall be a Final Technical Report (DI-ADMN-80447) that shall include concept descriptions, trade studies, Pro-E compatible layout drawings showing major components and design features, Pro-E compatible solid models of each concept, weight budgets and developmental design drawings and associated lists. The EAPS Turret/Platform Study shall be completed no later than 4 months after award of this task.
