Description

The principal components of work include: Removing the coating systems from the interior and exterior surfaces of 84-inch hollow jet valves, downstream face of ring follower gates, interior surfaces of 84-inch penstocks from ring follower gate to plunger stainless steel ring seal set, exterior surfaces of non-concrete embedded section of 84-inch penstocks on upstream face of valve pit, exterior surfaces of 84-inch hollow jet valve supports, and exterior surfaces of flushing piping and valves; performing surface preparation on surfaces from which coatings have been removed and applying new coating systems; and removing previously applied Devcon Stainless Steel Putty and repairing with appropriate weld material. Note - coatings on the ring follower gate valve, leaf flushing line piping, hollow jet valve body and interior of the penstock have been sampled and analyzed. The sampling data identified lead, chromium, cobalt, manganese, nickel, vanadium, and zinc in the coatings associated with the above components. All of the above heavy metals are regulated by the EPA and are known to be hazardous to humans, the waterway and the environment. Applicable regulations regarding hazardous materials therefore apply. The work is located at Yellowtail Dam Powerplant, approximately 90 miles southeast of Billings, Montana in Big Horn County. The bid opening date is tentatively scheduled for January 15, 2008 at the Bureau of Reclamation's Great Plains Regional Office, 316 North 26th Street, Billings, Montana. The solicitation packages are scheduled to be available on or around December 13, 2007. There is no charge for the first copy; additional sets will be provided upon receipt of a nonrefundable check or money order of $9.00 per set. All reasonable sources may submit a bid which shall be considered by the Bureau of Reclamation. The estimated price range of this acquisition is $250,000 to $500,000. The North American Industrial Classification Code is 238990. The small business size standard is $13.0 Million. This acquisition is unrestricted. This specifications and drawings will be not posted to the internet; however a complete solicitation package is available in hard copy. The request must include contractor's name, address, phone/fax numbers, tax identification number and their Dun and Bradstreet number.
