Description
This is modification 1 to the synopsis entitled Feasibility Study for Development of Stress Rupture Data from Composite Overwrapped Pressed Vessels NNJ08COPV which was posted on October 16, 2007. You are notified that the following changes are made: The CEV COPV Stress Rupture Life Requested Specifications are revised. The responses for this revised RFI will be used in the future to generate a detailed Statement of Work for the procurement of test articles. Shape: Cylindrical COPV Fill Ports: 2 boss ports with AS5202 thread form Liner: Seamless Al 6061-T6 0.030 in Thk Tolerance on the thickness in the cylinder section is +/-0.003 A quantity of 10 liners shall be delivered to NASA for burst tests. Fiber: Current target fiber is Toray T-1000. The delivered lot minimum tensile strength shall be 800 ksi. A response can be provided with other fibers that have similar properties to T-1000. The main objective is to get cost and delivery for vessels based on the availability of Toray T-1000. Volume Fiber Ratio: 0.65 +/- 0.05 Target Design Burst Pressure: 4,000 to 8,000 psig Target Diameter: 4.0 to 8.0 in. Cylinder Length: Minimum cylinder length shall be 4.0 in. Proof pressure: Do not perform proof tests. Proof tests shall be performed after delivery to NASA. Helical/Hoop Design Stress Ratio: 75% (typical for flight design) Wrapping Pattern: Minimum of 4 hoop layers Liner/Overwrap Interface: Bonded interface Autofrettage: Do not perform autofrettage on the COPVs. Burst Tests: Burst tests shall be performed on 40 vessels to determine the variability. The minimum pressure increase rate for the burst tests is 50psi/sec. Ambient Test Temperature: 50?F to 100?F Quantity: 140 The due date for responses is not extended. Documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
