- Description
- The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) intends to negotiate with Westat Inc., Coordinating Center Contractor (HHSN268200417175C) for the Retrovirus Epidemiology Donor Study-II (REDS-II) to act on behalf of NHLBI to solicit proposals from organizations to refine, assemble, and validate the HIV SELECTEST enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (EIA) kits, in addition to developing an HIV Rapid test based on HIV-SELECT technology. Westat will conduct peer review of proposals, negotiate and award one subcontract. The addition of the proposed subcontract will augment the REDS II work scope to refine, assemble, validate and obtain FDA licensing of HIV SELECTEST enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (EIA) kits for distribution to national and international laboratories conducting Phase I-III HIV-1 vaccine trials, as well as develop, refine, assemble, validate and obtain FDA licensing of a Rapid HIV-1 Antibody Test based on the HIV SELECTEST. The period of performance for the HIV SELECTEST will be three years.
