Description
The EPA is looking for companies interested in providing design services and technical assistance in coordinating with a federally recognized Tribe, for the implementation of a statistically valid and culturally relevant consumption survey that will provide input into the evaluation of potential tribal health risk(s) associated with exposure to contamination at the Upper Columbia River site. Tribal resources have been contaminated by pollution in the Upper Columbia River (extending from the U.S./Canadian Border to the Grand Coulee Dam in Northeastern Washington State). Specific dietary, as well as other resource uses/practices (behaviors) and the precise nature and extent of contamination have not been defined. A survey instrument to measure current levels of dietary consumption and other uses/practices that may result in exposure to pollutants is necessary to assess potential risks to tribal members from such exposures. The survey?s purpose is to define future data needs, including prioritizing the types and locations of resources for collection and contaminant analysis. All tasks will be performed in coordination with the EPA and the tribe. Specifically, expertise and assistance are required in: accessing and using the Nutrition Data System for Research (NDSR) software or its equivalent; survey design support, training interviewers, and analyzing data. It is anticipated that the contractor will participate in an Advisory Council, design a survey using the NDSR interview software, train interviewers, and conduct a pilot study during 2008. The survey is anticipated to be implemented in 2009 and the data analysis will be completed by September 2010. Interested companies shall send 2 copies of their qualifications and experience in performing such activities to EPA Region 7, 901 N 5th Street, Kansas City, KS 66101, Attn: Marie Noel. If emailing your response, send to: noel.marie@epa.gov Responses shall include your business classification (small business, service-disabled veteran-owned business, Hub Zone, 8(a), woman-owned, etc.) Responses are due no later than November 18, 2007.
