- Concession Business Opportunity for Backcountry Lodging, Food and Beverage, and Retail Services at LeConte Lodge in Great Smoky Mountains National Park The National Park Service (NPS) will issue a prospectus for solicitation of offers for a 10 year concession contract to provide backcountry lodging, food and beverage, and retail services at LeConte Lodge within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. LeConte Lodge is a rustic, backcountry lodge located near the summit of Mt. LeConte, the third highest peak in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Lodge guests and employees reach the Lodge by means of one of five access trails, the shortest of which is approximately 5.5 miles in length and ascends 2,697 feet. The Lodge is not accessible by road. Gross revenues over the past five years have been from $1,164,366 - $1,282,453 annually. The Director, pursuant to 36 CFR 51 has determined that this is not a qualified contract with regard to preference for a Preferred Offeror, and therefore, no Preferred Offeror for this contract exists. This solicitation for commercial services is fully competitive. Any offer, including that of the existing concessioner, must be received by the NPS at the address listed in the prospectus no later than 4:00 p.m. on January 8, 2008 in order to be evaluated and considered for an award of a concession contract. The prospectus describes the business opportunity and includes the terms and conditions under which the NPS will award the concession contract. The prospectus is available on the NPS website at http://www.concessions.nps.gov/Prospectus.cfm, or you can receive a hard copy for $50.00. To request a copy of the prospectus, send a check for $50.00 payable to the National Park Service to Mark Morgan at the address listed below. This amount includes an administrative charge of $45.00 to recoup the printing cost plus a $5.00 Fed Ex shipping fee for each prospectus. Please include a physical address (no post office box) and telephone number. You may also pick up a printed copy at the Superintendent's Office at Park Headquarters for $45.00 (checks only).
